Babywaering

Elizabeth & Matthew | International Babywearing Week Day 5

Shooting Elizabeth and Matthew was fun of course, but I think I enjoyed watching Matthew pop his his seat every couple of minutes the most. He is such a wiggly little baby and just wants to run around and have a good time. Who could blame him right? We ended up putting him in the Tula SSC for the second part of the shoot because we didn’t want him to get hurt because he is such a seat popper! I was little worried at first because the SSCs are not nearly as beautiful as all of these wraps that we have been showcasing throughout the week. But man was I wrong! These pictures came out beautiful! Elizabeth is striking and the Tula looks gorgeous with Matthew snuggled SAFELY inside. Im so happy that we had to switch to the Tula because now the series includes a SSC to go along with the wovens, ring slings, and mei tais we have featured as well. Im all about safety first when it comes to our little ones. I am just so stoked on how striking these images are.

Thank you so much Elizabeth and Matthew for allowing me to photograph you.

And of course a thank you to Erin Demos of A Confident Mom for taking the time to be the babywearing advisor on this series.

Getting to know Elizabeth and Matthew’s babywearing lifestyle –

C. How did you discover “baby wearing” and how has it helped your family?

E. I discovered baby wearing from my sister, whom wore both of her children as newborns. And it has helped my family in a variety of ways. With getting things done, such as cleaning, multi-tasking, and being able to get a quick snack in all while bonding with my son.

C. What is your favorite “fun” thing to do while baby wearing?

E. I love doing yard work while baby wearing. It gets my son, Matthew outside in the sun, while I can get yard work done. He loves being outside and by babywearing and being outside, it gives him just that.

C. What is in your “babywearing” closet?

E. I used to have a couple different wraps, 2 soft-structured carriers, and a ring sling total. But as my son has gotten older, he doesn’t like to be worn as often, so I’ve downgraded to just 1 wrap and 1 soft-structured carrier.

C. What is your favorite carrier and if it is a wrap what is your favorite wrapping style?

E. Ugh I wish I enjoyed wrapping as much as other parents! My son is a well known seat popper when he’s in a wrap. So that’s why I tend to lean more for my Tula. Which restricts him and keeps him contained on my front or back.

C. If you could one piece of advice to someone new to babywearing what would it be?

E. Listen to advice, and don’t take it personally. We’re all moms and are usually just looking out for one another. If a mother approaches you and gives you some tips, don’t think she’s a b*tch. She honestly just cares about the safety of your child.
