Babywaering

Kim & Grayson | International Babywearing Week Day 1

When I was pregnant with Sarine, Noah and I took class after class preparing for her arrival. From CPR to carseat safety we intently listened, took notes and discussed how we would raise her and what we would do if certain situations would arise. During one of our classes at The Pump Station in Hollywood, we learned about one of the most important things that would bring us closer together as a family and help us bond with Sarine. Babywearing. I will be forever grateful for their introduction to baby wearing and for the demonstrations they gave during that class. “Babywearing” has been a huge part of my life since Sarine was born. I whole heartedly believe that it is one of the reasons she is such an easy going, mild tempered little human and I know without a doubt it help me get through the rough patches of postpartum. As my ventures in wearing Sarine progressed, I learned about different carriers, wraps and the communities of people who also share this love. Not going to lie, I got kind of obsessed, with Tulas to be exact. I have been lucky enough to meet some amazing women and men since being involved in the meet ups and playdates. This community of parents are kind, compassionate, gentle and so incredibly intentional with their words and actions and best of all the love talking about all things “babywearing!” When I found out last week that it was going to be “International Babywearing Week” I instantly knew I wanted to do a series of photographs of some of the amazing people I have met and their children. I have spent every day the past week planning and shooting, and shooting, and shooting some more to celebrate “International Babywearing Week,” to celebrate my awesome baby wearing friends, and to give thanks to this community that has been so helpful, supportive and kind.

I am featuring a new person on my page and blog every day for the next week as well as an interview. This is just something fun I wanted to do to celebrate something we all hold dear to our hearts.

I really want to thank everyone who was involved and were stoked on participating. And a huge thank you to Erin Demos of A Confident Mom, for being my “babywearing” consultant/advisor for this series. You have helped so much with the details, and I am so grateful for your time and knowledge.

I hope you guys enjoy!

Warmly,

Corinna

Getting to know Kim & Baby Grayson’s baby wearing lifestyle

C. How did you discover “baby wearing” and how has it helped your family?

K. My sister gave me her moby wrap that she used with her daughter when I had my son. I went to my first babywearing “meeting” at the scv birth center when my son was 7 weeks old. I fell in love with the idea of keeping him close and having hands free.

C. What is your favorite “fun” thing to do while baby wearing?

K. I really love working out and baby wearing. But in truth I just love doing anything I can while wearing my son.

C. What is in your “babywearing” closet?

K. I have a variety of different carriers and wraps in my stash.  When purchasing my stash I always looked for good deals and kept myself on a budget. This way I have all different options and I didn’t break the bank. My stash consists of: 2 moby wraps, an organic ergo, a homemade Mei Tai, Tula Skipper, Mahogany Tree of Life,  Girasol Primavera size 6 and a Girasol Pacifico ring sling.

C. What is your favorite carrier and if it is a wrap what is your favorite wrapping style?

K. My go to carrier is my ring sling. It is quick and easy to get on and off and very comfortable.
