Babywaering

Sean Bouke aka The Kilted Babywearer | International Babywearing Week Day 3

How do I describe this shoot….sooo fun! I wanted to do something a little different for Sean than I was doing for everyone else in this series. My goal for the series is to capture these amazing moments that show how connected we are with our children, but also to obtain beautiful light and angles. Because most of the series is women, it was obvious that I wanted to shoot in beautiful park like areas throughout the city, but for Sean, I wanted something different. Still beautiful just in a different way. A little more masculine, a little rougher, but still showing that incredible bond he has with his kids. I am so glad and grateful that I got to do this shoot with him and his beautiful family. They are wonderfully genuine people that just want the best for their kids and the children around them. I am so happy he is a vocal advocate for men (and women) wearing their babies and children and is able to help spread awareness as to how important it is, and he does it with style!

Thank you Sean, Erin, T and C! You guys were fantastic subjects and I can’t wait to do it again!

Getting to know Sean Bouke aka The Kilted Babywearer’s “wearing” lifestyle –

C. How did you discover “baby wearing” and how has it helped your family?

KB. I started babywearing when my LO was born because my partner Erin started babywearing with our older son. He is not my bio but he is my son. I started with a Moby wrap and then got into wovens and fell in love. Babywearing has helped me create a bond with my LO that is amazing. Erin and I also realized  that our older son still loves being worn and it helps him re-center and calm his body.

C. What is your favorite “fun” thing to do while baby wearing?

KB. One of my favorite fun thing to do while babywearing is go to Disneyland. My LO’s first time was when he was about month old and we go all the time.

C. What is in your “babywearing” closet? !

KB. My “babywearing” closet is like Willy Wonka & the chocolate Factory, anything you can imagine and more.

C. What is your favorite carrier and if it is a wrap what is your favorite wrapping style?!

KB. My favorite kind of carrier changes depending on the situation. If I need to do a quick up because I’m picking my older son up from school or at Disneyland and getting on and off rides I grab my SSC made by O&A. If I am going for a walk or hike I tend to us a wrap. I have been doing a HJBC or DRS2S lately because they are really comfortable and quick.

C. If you could one piece of advice to someone new to babywearing what would it be?

KB. If I could only give on piece of advice to someone new to babywearing I would tell them that babywearing is amazing and that there is a carrier that will work for them and to try and find a local babywearing community so they can try on different carriers  to find one that they love.
